A Survey on Sports Activities of Middle School Students

Abstract
The survey on sports activities after regular class was conducted for 15 days from August 1 through August 15, 1974 for 900 boy and girl students of middle schools located in Kwang Ju City.
The results obtained are as followed:
1. More than half of boys and about one third of girls had sports activities after the regular class.
2. As for the kings of sports, 46.6% of boys played soccer, and 40.4% of girls gymnastics.
3. For the sports activities, 52.2% of boys and 62.2% of girls spent less than 2hours per week.
4. The correlation between the length of time for the sports and the grade achievement did not show any statistical significance.
5. As for the place being used for the sports, 64.5 ground and their own home respectively.
6. The main reason why they had the sports activities was for their health.
7. For the sports activies, 46.8% of the students felt deficiencies of facilities and 22.4% their leader. About two-third of the students pointed out the deficiency of facilities and leader.
8. As for the interest of their parents in the sports activities 53.3% of the parents showed cooperative attitude, however, the majority of the parents showed indifference.
9. More than one third of boys and half of girls never participated to the sports activities because of lack of interests.
10. Sixty-six percent of boys, however, were willing to join the sports activites in the future.
